Missouri School Board New Member Training

I didn’t become a communications professional overnight. It’s taken a college degree, lots of hard work and real-world experience, and a slight chocolate addiction to make me the gal I am today.

So, no, I don’t claim to know everything about everything related to overseeing the Maryville R2 School District as an elected member of its school board.

Thankfully, the Missouri School Boards’ Association requires and provides training for all newly elected members. Missouri law requires members to receive 18.5 hours of training within their first year of service and helps provide a crucial foundation for becoming productive within their respective school boards.

The training is a combination of online learning and on-site classes and includes topics like school law and finance, board policy, student achievement, goal setting/strategic planning, and more. (You can learn more at https://www.mosba.org/new-board-member-training/)

I’m thankful for this valuable resource and look forward to taking advantage of it if the Maryville community chooses me to serve on one of three open board positions on April 7.
