Spoofhound Bookshelf: Building home libraries one book at a time
This week’s Spoofhound Wednesday Wave goes out to Ms. Kimberly Offutt, Maryville High School librarian, for being completely supportive of my off-the-wall ideas.
Ms. Offutt and I met for the first time last fall to discuss an idea I had about gifting high school students with free books to begin or add to their own home libraries.
I’m happy to say she was 100 percent supportive from Day One, and Spoofhound Bookshelf was born!
It’s rather simple: EVERY high school student at Maryville High, regardless of family income, can choose one book from the library’s Spoofhound Bookshelf each month. It’s theirs to keep, to share, to give away. Thanks to generous supporters, we were able to launch the program earlier this month, and I can’t wait to see how it grows!
It’s always exciting to see how parents, staff and community organizations and businesses create lasting partnerships. Have an idea? Share it with a teacher, a staff member, an administrator and let the magic happen.
