Good people doing good things

We've lost a lot over the past year of this pandemic. Generations will add "Before COVID" to their vocabulary when revisiting the past. Just as we did with "Before 9/11" and other historical events.

As many schools across the country begin to slowly reopen, I am so grateful for our Maryville community.
A lot of hard work - and a little bit of luck - has allowed us to have in-person learning for a vast majority of our students this academic year. We've even been able to offer sports and extracurricular activities on some scale.
During a global pandemic.
It's simply astounding when you think about it.
There are school districts within a short drive of us who are still remote learning. Many haven't been able to host sports or clubs or music or dance.
Has it been a perfect experience for us? Heck, no. But we're getting it done. Thanks to a stellar staff, great students and supportive parents, we're gonna make it.
And thank you to my fellow board members for listening. For having the difficult conversations. For asking the tough questions.
The answers haven't been easy. We're not always in agreement, but, wow. There's no doubt in my mind that every person sitting at that table wants to protect the best interests of all those who trust us to put them first. I feel our BOE is reflective of the Maryville community: good people working hard to do good things.
